Loc'd hair requires special care and attention to keep them healthy and looking their best. I always tell my clients locs are low maintenance not no maintenance. So if you want them to grow strong long and healthy here are five of the best hair treatments to start incorporating into your TLC routine.
Deep Conditioning: Use a deep conditioner once a month to keep your locs moisturized and prevent them from becoming dry and brittle. Apply the water based or diluted conditioner to your hair and leave it in for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it out.
Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse: An apple cider vinegar rinse can help remove buildup and residue from your locs. Mix one part apple cider vinegar with three parts water and pour the mixture over your hair. Leave it in for a few minutes before rinsing it out.
Tea Tree Oil Treatment: Tea tree oil is known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, which can help keep your scalp healthy and prevent dandruff. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut oil and massage it into your scalp. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before washing it out.
Hot Oil Treatment: A hot oil treatment can help moisturize your locs and prevent breakage. Heat up some coconut oil or olive oil in a microwave-safe bowl for a few seconds until it's warm but not hot. Apply the oil to your hair and scalp and cover your head with a shower cap. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before washing it out.
Baking Soda Treatment: Baking soda can help remove buildup and residue from your locs. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda with water to create a paste. Apply the paste to your scalp and massage it in for a few minutes before rinsing it out.
